Hello Friends,
As summer winds down, San Francisco feels anything but quiet-between foggy mornings, back-to-back music festivals, the surge of AI, and a housing market that keeps us on our toes, here’s what’s been making waves in and around The City.
Cheers,
Debbie

San Francisco’s real estate market remains defined by low inventory and diverging performance between property types. Single-family homes are selling in a median of just two weeks, with prices up slightly year-over-year, while condo sales are slower and values have softened. Still, the city is seeing renewed demand fueled by the AI boom, as talent and capital flow back into San Francisco and add resilience compared to other Bay Area markets.
At the Federal Reserve’s Jackson Hole meeting yesterday, Chair Jerome Powell indicated that rate cuts could begin as early as September. Futures markets are now pricing in a 90% chance of a cut, though Powell stressed that easing will be measured. If delivered, lower borrowing costs- combined with tech-driven demand- could give buyers additional confidence heading into the fall market.

While many residents who reside around Golden Gate Park complained about traffic woes, three consecutive weekends of major concerts-featuring Dead & Company, Outside Lands, and Zach Bryan-drew over 450,000 attendees and generated $150 million in economic activity. Hotel occupancy surged to nearly 90%, and the events bolstered employment with thousands of new part-time and union roles. (SF Chronicle)
